Bringing your Pet to The BAHAMAS

AIR TRAVEL:

Cherokee Air in West Palm Beach, FL (888) 977-7931 cherokeeair.com and Airgate Aviation in New Smyrna Beach, FL (386)478-0600 flyairgate.com will both allow you to bring your dog with you on your flight.  Contact them for ticket information and associated costs.  Sophie (on the left in video clip below) recommends both!

AT LEAST 4 WEEKS IN ADVANCE:

Apply for an import permit from The Bahamas.  Go to bahamas.gov.bs for specific instructions which will outline how to get a dog permit.  Please note, you will need to send a picture of your dog and an international money order for the fee ($11.20) and you should FedEx the application and fee to the Nassau address to ensure it is received (about $60).

24 HOURS BEFORE TRAVEL:

With your permit, you will receive a form to be completed by your vet 24 hours before travel to The Bahamas.  Your vet will certify that your pet is disease free and up-to-date on all vaccines.

UPON ENTRY TO THE BAHAMAS:

At Customs/Immigration you will present your dog import permit and your vet certification form.  If you are using Cherokee Air or Airgate Aviation you will fly into the FBO (private aviation) part of the airport.  The FBO has its own customs staff there and they are used to visitors coming in with their dogs.  It is generally an easy, pleasant experience (if you have all your appropriate documents).

SEA BISCUIT'S PET POLICY:

Please note that SEA BISCUIT charges a $200 fee for pets. We ask that pet owners take extra care to clean up after their furry friends and that all pet evidence and doggie DNA is removed from the property upon departure.  Also, please note that there are many roaming chickens on the island, so please make sure your dog does not chase them (it is very tempting).

Sorry, but due to the high number of humans with allergies to cats, SEA BISCUIT does not allow felines to vacation on the property.  Our most sincere apologies to our cat friends!
